Ingrid is very much a trusted and go-to legal advisor. She is a key member of the employment, pensions and immigration team at Weightmans, providing both employment law and business immigration law support and advice to clients.

Ingrid is pragmatic, personable and solutions-focused. She has significant experience in the legal profession and truly focusses on what her clients' needs and objectives are. She is also very driven in building long standing relationships with clients and continues to work across many sectors.

Employment

Ingrid covers all areas of non-contentious employment matters and has particular experience in redundancies, restructuring/reorganisation, senior executive/management disputes and employment/TUPE support to corporate and real estate transactions. She has significant sector experience within retail and hospitality, construction, transport and logistics and owner managed business/SMEs.

She conducts her own advocacy and manages tribunal claims ranging from areas of unfair dismissal, protected disclosures, disability discrimination, redundancy and re-organisations, sex discrimination, TUPE and wasted costs.

Ingrid is also a key member of Weightmans' HR Rely team – offering price certainty and employment law solutions for our clients.

Ingrid also has previous experience in legal sales and growth strategy, training and supervision of employment colleagues and the development of cross-selling opportunities

Business immigration

Ingrid is experienced in both employment law and immigration law, allowing for seamless advice across both disciplines.

Her immigration expertise extends to assisting with compliance, policy drafting and implementation and strategy and the prevention of illegal working. She also has experience in providing global immigration advice and support to a variety of sectors including retail, transport, hospitality, education and construction.

Matt Smith

Matt is a Solicitor-Advocate specialising in healthcare employment law with over 14 years of experience. He regularly represents predominantly NHS and other public sector clients in employment tribunals around the country, as well as advising them on internal matters. Matt can advise on the full range of employment issues including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, TUPE, redundancies and reorganisations.

Matt is in his second spell with Weightmans’ healthcare employment team, having recently returned to the firm after spending four years at the Equality and Human Rights Commission where he undertook a varied range of litigation, enforcement and legal policy work, predominantly focussing on issues such as sexual harassment, race discrimination and COVID-19, bringing a unique perspective to his work.

Alex Leslie

Alex has over 30 years’ experience in health related law acting for public and private healthcare providers, and is ranked as a Senior Statesperson in the Chambers and Partners UK legal directory.

Alex’s principal area of work is advising professionals working in the NHS on employment, disciplinary, regulatory and ethical issues. His practice also includes advising NHS bodies on employment, governance and associated issues.

Alex has acted in many high profile cases, and has advised participants in major public inquiries, including the BSE and Redfern inquiries.

Alex has published articles, given seminars, contributed to a textbook on health service law and practice and made TV training programmes for LNTV.

Simon Kernyckyj

Simon Kernyckyj

Formerly of RadcliffesLeBrasseur, Simon is a Partner in our Healthcare Regulation team based in Leeds. He has substantial experience in advising and representing doctors and dentists in criminal, disciplinary, regulatory and employment spheres.

He regularly appears as an advocate at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (GMC), the GDC, NHS Hearings for both primary and secondary care, at inquests, the magistrate’s court and other investigatory meetings, interviews and hearings.

He also has experience in other areas involving trading standards, health and safety, the CQC, Court of Protection, employment, judicial review and data protection.

Simon qualified as a solicitor in 1989. He joined RadcliffesLeBrasseur in Leeds originally in 1995 and made partner in 2001. From 2004-2009 he was in-house counsel for a Leeds property development group, returning to RadcliffesLeBrasseur in September 2009. He joined Weightmans as part of the merger between Weightmans and RadcliffesLeBrasseur in March 2022.
